Excerpts: "Portrait of Elke Robersscheuten, a remake"
"The fact that Clara Schumann, against her father's wishes, married Robert, had eight children with him, and that he later jumped off a bridge and ended up in a psychiatric institution, is of no significance in this context. Whether Clara had an affair with Johannes Brahms, even less. That Alma married the much older Gustav Mahler, had four children (and lost three) is as irrelevant. That Alma, in addition to Mahler, also added the names of Gropius the architect and Werfel the writer to her family name and had something to do with Kokoshka the painter, even more so. What is important, though, is that Clara Schumann and Alma Mahler were gifted pianists. The 18th and 19th centuries are also appealing to Elke Robersscheuten, with their echoes in the classical style of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven, and especially the full romanticism from above. Broad emotions, deep feelings, a lot of fantasy and a touch of drama: it fits her like a glove. It is obvious that she inherited her musical gene from her great-grandmother, who still accompanied silent films at the cinema live on the piano." |
